They say you shouldn't eat your feelings, but maybe that person was never introduced to chocolate. Give me a piece of high-quality dark chocolate and you will quickly see this frown turn upside down. A life without a little chocolate...doesn't seem very fun to me!
My grandmother made the BEST fudge, hands down. My mother re-created the famous recipe a few years ago. Still delicious, but HOLY sugar! And, she only used about half of the sugar the recipe called for...
I love the notion of passing recipes through the generations , but when we know better we do better.
If it's possible, I dare say this fudge is healthy. It may not be low-calorie, but most come from peanut butter. Basically, there's 1 Tbsp. of peanut butter in each slice. That's 90-100 calories right there. Few would argue that peanut butter is unhealthy. Depending upon the exact ingredients and quantities, 16 pieces come out to about 150 calories, each. For dark chocolate-y goodness?!? Oh, and there's peanut butter?!? I'll take that any day.
Plus, there's very little "cooking" required. Just heat, stir, and freeze.
Sorry, Gran. But, I think she would approve.
For this recipe, you must put the fudge in the freezer. Otherwise, you will need to grab a spoon. For your grandma's fudge recipe, the high sugar content will stabilize it both in and out of the fridge. Frozen, it can last for 2-3 months. But, this batch won't even stand a chance...
This chocolate & peanut butter freezer fudge makes the perfect snack! Sweet, packed with some protein, and ready straight from the freezer!
