Candy bark is a sheet of chocolate that has been covered with nuts, fruits, and/or candy. Then, it’s roughly broken into small pieces, which can resemble tree bark. It’s believed to come from a French holiday candy.
They may have perfected the recipe, but no Williams Sonoma did not invent peppermint bark. Versions of candy bark have been around for a long time. It closely resembles a French holiday candy, known as mendiants. Williams Sonoma has been making bark for over 20 years! So, it seems to be working for them.
Almond bark is a vanilla-flavored, artificial white chocolate. It doesn’t contain any cocoa butter, but the vegetable fats make it ideal for melting. After sitting, the coating will harden. It’s also not made with almonds. Originally, it was often used to coat almonds, hence the name. It’s also referred to as a confectionary coating, since it’s not real chocolate.
With two kinds of chocolate and crushed candy canes, this layered holiday bark is perfect for parties or as a homemade gift!
