Pizza Burgers

For a new twist on pizza night- try these pizza burgers! With pepperoni, mozzarella, and marinara sauce- they're served atop garlic bread for a true Italian take on burgers!

Over the years, I've come up with quite a few burger variations: The Best Turkey Burgers, Chicken Parm, and Turkey Caprese.

I don't even own an outdoor grill, but they are really easy to make in a skillet too. Plus, they don't take much time to prepare or cook.

Better yet, let's combine pizza night and burger night!

No pizza dough needed- which is music to this gluten free gal's ears! It's hard to find decent gluten free pizza dough. I decided to serve with garlic bread for a true pizza night feeling. Gluten free garlic bread can be a little harder to find, but you can easily make your own!

Who ever came up with pizza and garlic bread as dishes that go together??? Talk about carb overload! Though for this burger version, I'm pretty glad they did!

Next up, pizza meatloaf! Anyone?!? Anyone?!?

  • Quick and easy! With or without a grill, dinner will be ready in 30 minutes or less!
  • Simple to customize! Take some ground meat. Then, add Italian seasonings and your favorite pizza toppings- mozzarella, pepperoni, mushrooms, olives, and much more!
  • Fun take on pizza night! Or burger night! Why not combine the best of both worlds?!?

Pizza Burger with Garlic Bread and Pepperoni

Ingredients in Pizza Burgers

  • Ground Beef (I recommend grass-fed)
  • Ground Italian Sausage
  • Marinara Sauce
  • Oregano
  • Gluten Free Garlic Bread or Rolls
  • Pepperoni
  • Mozzarella

Secrets to the Best Hamburger

  • Use grass-fed beef.
  • Add a little soy sauce, coconut aminos, or Worcestershire sauce. This will help to add moisture and a greater depth of flavor. I added marinara sauce, so this step was unnecessary.
  • Mix until just combined- don't handle the meat too much.
  • Season liberally, but don't add salt until after the patties are formed.
  • Use a meat thermometer for the best gauge of doneness. Medium-Rare: 130-135  Medium: 140-145  Well Done: 160-165
  • Always toast your buns! Or, in this case- garlic bread!

Make Your Own Gluten Free Garlic Bread

1. First, choose your bread. You can use slices of bread, rolls, flatbread- whatever you'd like!

2. Choose a toasting method. Depending on the size/shape of your bread and the quantity you could use the oven, toaster oven, grill, a skillet, or even a toaster! In the oven or toaster oven, broil for 4-5 minutes. For a grill or skillet, brush the bread with olive oil or butter. Then, place oil side down or you can flip in the middle to toast both sides. Using a toaster, toast the bread. Then, spread with butter or olive oil and rub with a clove or garlic or use garlic seasoning.

3. Enjoy! Sprinkle on some cheese, add a burger and your favorite pizza toppings. Maybe a few air fried or oven baked French fries. Dinner is served.

Is a hamburger a sandwich?

You better watch out! Discussing this with the wrong crowd could be hazardous to your health! I believe that yes, a hamburger is a sandwich. Traditionally, burgers are a thing sandwiched between two pieces of bread- AKA a sandwich! Though, I heard someone argue that you can't have a burger without a bun- well, you certainly can and often might when you're gluten free!
