Cooler temps are here. So, it's time to break out the slow cooker and have a comforting meal ready when you get home. With so many ingredient and flavor options, chili is a fall and winter staple. Need lunch for the week? Simply prepare a big batch of chili on Sunday. Not sure what to eat during the big game? Same answer.
You won't find a lot of beans here, but that's just a personal preference. You will find tender meat and LOTS of veggies! Seriously, why are veggies often missing from classic chili recipes??? It's the perfect opportunity to really load them in there and barely notice with all of the other delicious flavors happening! Clearly a missed opportunity...
So, just a bit of prep. Then, you can kick-back AND still have dinner, plus leftovers, ready to go!
Other Chili Ingredients/Flavors
Most people will say yes. The longer cooking time helps to draw out the most flavor from each ingredient. Plus, it's nice to set it and forget it!
Up to 8 hours on low should be fine. Any longer and the ingredients may begin to break down. If you prefer a crunchier vegetable, you could sauté and add toward the end of the slow cooking time.
