Warm weather means it's time for light and refreshing cocktails! Most summer drinks are sweet...which means they are full of sugar. And sugar-free, laden with chemicals, is even worse. Ready-made margarita mix is no exception. And honestly- they are often a little too sweet for my tastes.
Years ago, I LOVED me some raspberry margaritas from Chilis. They were sweet and amazing! I don't believe they are on the menu anymore. Recently, the closest I could find was a blackberry margarita with over 300 calories. Oh, and a cost of $10. With this recipe, we could buy organic raspberries and still make at least 4 margaritas for the same price.
And working on this recipe- I learned something new. It turns out that Triple Sec is full of calories and sugar! Like, 1 oz. has over 100 calories and 10 grams of sugar! Yowza! Luckily, most mixed drinks call for just a small amount. For less calories and natural sugar, orange juice is a good replacement. If you avoid the Triple Sec, each margarita only has about 150 calories. You could decrease the calories even more if you stick with a flavored seltzer instead of soda.
Just 15 minutes and you'll be sipping on the back porch!
A skinny margarita is a lower-calorie version of the tequila-blended favorite. Triple Sec has a lot of calories and sugar. Skinny versions replace this citrus liquor with fresh juice and a lower calorie sweetener. This recipe uses orange juice, lime juice, fresh raspberries, and a little powdered sugar.
These skinny raspberry margaritas make a cool, summer cocktail- sweetened with a natural raspberry purée!
